Q. AGGRAND Natural Fertilizers have a lower NPK grade than chemical fertilizers do. Does this mean that they are less effective than the chemical fertilizers?
A. Not at all! In fact testing has demonstrated that AGGRAND products are more effective than chemical fertilizers, because they stimulate the soil microbial activity, helping to process the nutrients, making them more available to plants. Only 7-8% of most chemical fertilizers is utilized by the plant while the rest becomes run-off that can contaminate surface and groundwater.

Q. Why should I stop using my usual brand of fertilizer and start using AGGRAND?
A. AGGRAND has a complete line of natural liquid fertilizers. Our tests have shown that AGGRAND out performs chemical fertilizers, while providing all your plants nutritional needs. AGGRAND is ideal for all vegetables, fruits, flowers, crops, lawns, trees, shrubs, and houseplants without causing any environmental harm.
Natural fertilizers supply the important plant nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (N-P-K), which help lawns and plants create rich color and deep roots. In addition, N-P-K promote vigorous growth, and improve disease and stress resistance. Naturally managed lawns cycle nutrients efficiently, which helps prevent a buildup of thatch—an accumulation
at the soil surface of dead, but undecomposed, stems and leaves. Importantly, grass clippings do not contribute to thatch—in fact, cycling grass clippings can annually provide a lawn with as much as two pounds of additional nitrogen per thousand square feet; a nice boost of free nutrients.1
The most important goal of any soil fertility program is the stimulation of the natural cycles that release nutrients for plant uptake. Ninety percent of the needed nitrogen for plant growth is converted from atmospheric nitrogen (78% nitrogen) by bacteria into nitrates through the natural cycle of nitrification. Natural fertilizers and water applied in the right combination along with the return of grass clippings provide the nutrients needed to support proliferation of these bacteria.
The nourished bacteria rapidly process the nutrients making them available for healthy lawn growth.
Natural fertilizers release nutrients more slowly than chemical fertilizers. In addition, they don’t contain the high concentrations of nitrogen that are contained in most chemical fertilizers. High nitrogen concentrations in the soil can damage the biological community and are proven to contribute to water pollution by leaching out of the soil into the ground and surface water2. By supplying low levels of nitrogen and other nutrients directly to the lawn and indirectly through feeding the soil biological community, the grass is fed continuously without causing water pollution3.
Some conventional, manufactured-chemical fertilizers supply nitrogen in the form of chemical salts. This form of manufactured-chemical nitrogen dissolves quickly to provide a rapid nitrogen release. Often, a quick nitrogen release encourages weed growth. Lawn grasses respond to a nitrogen ‘spike’ by producing excessive top growth in lieu of laying in stores of carbohydrates. Lawns with poor carbohydrate reserves often go dormant during drought or other stressful times3.
Hay and Pasture Fields Mixed grass-legume production as it relates to permanent cultures on acid clay soils in the eastern U.S. and Pacific Northwest has special fertility requirements. These soils tend to contain high to excessive amounts of magnesium (Mg) and low to deficient amounts of calcium (Ca). The percentages of Mg and Ca must be adjusted to increase soil aeration allowing higher levels of biological activity to increase and sustain high productivity levels (the biology follows the chemistry).
In general, one ton of gypsum and one ton of high Ca lime applied per acre during field renovation increases aeration and improves drainage on clay soils for several years. After tilling gypsum into the soil, irrigate or allow several inches of rain to fall to leach the Mg from the soil before applying lime. Some farmers find the soil chemistry stays in balance with very little change over longer periods (10 years or more) when using AGGRAND fertilizers in conjunction with balancing soil chemistry.
Foliar Applications - Mix 1 to 3 gallons. AGGRAND 4-3-3 Natural Fertilizer, 1-2 gallons. AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal, and 1-2 quarts AGGRAND 0-0-8 Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash with 50 to 75 gallons of water. Apply as a fine mist with enough solution to thoroughly cover leaves. Apply first application in spring when plants are 4 to 6 inches in height.
- Repeat application when crop begins to regrow (4 to 6” in height) after each cutting or grazing (on rotationally grazed pastures).
- Apply 2 to 3 applications per year.
Rates vary according to soil fertility, cropping history, and other inputs that are applied. Lower dilution rates are more effective than higher dilution rates. Two or three lighter applications may be more effective than one or two heavier applications. If other constraints allow only one trip over the field, then do not exceed a 3 percent dilution rate (3 gallons AGGRAND to 100 gallons of water.
The addition of a biodegradable surfactant increases uptake by promoting adhesion to the leaf surface. Apply AGGRAND in early morning or late evening. Do not apply before or after rainfall or irrigation. On standard field sprayers use turbo flood jet or flood jet nozzles when applying AGGRAND to reduce clogging and increase atomization.
To reduce susceptibility to attack of insects and disease causing organisms, apply 1 to 2 gallons of 4-3-3 or 1-2 quarts of 0-0-8 per acre when signs of infestation become apparent. When AGGRAND is added to the spray tank, it reduces the pesticide needed to obtain effective control by 1/3 to1/2. Some growers find AGGRAND applications alone eliminate the need for pesticide applications when they are applied at the same times as pesticides. Pre-plant Soil Applications:
Mix 3 to 6 gallons AGGRAND 4-3-3 with 20 to 30 gallons of water. Apply solution after seedbed preparation. Drag lightly after application.
Lawns
AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer 4-3-3 helps lawns develop deep root systems with proportional top growth by supplying nitrogen as part of a balance of nutrients. Due to its balanced growth, the natural lawn resists disease, insects and drought much more successfully than high-input lawns do. Naturally-managed lawns cycle nutrients efficiently, preventing thatch buildup. In fact, recycling thatch actually gives the lawn an extra two pounds of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet over
the growing season – a nice little boost. Finally, natural lawns require less mowing than high-nitrogen lawns.
Conventional lawn care practices may cause micronutrient deficiencies and inefficient nitrogen usage. Plants take up nitrogen and micronutrients in a fixed proportion, so when nitrogen is highly abundant, micronutrients should be, too. Most commercial fertilizers don’t supply micronutrients, so lawns may suffer micronutrient deficiencies and often fail to use all the supplied nitrogen. Natural lawns depend on fixation and release of nutrients by soil microbes to regulate soil fertility. Nutrients that are not directly taken up by the grass are stored and released slowly in proportions that
promote healthy growth.
Prevailing lawn care practices depend on high rates of nitrogen input, which promotes an excessive leaf development to root reserve ratio. Such over-abundant top growth is easy prey for disease-causing organisms and insects, while the shallow root system can’t store the reserves to cope with drought stress. Heavy, excessive top growth also leads to an excessive amount of clippings, which outstrip the ability of soil organisms to break down dead materials, leading to thatch
build-up, increased disease risk and unsightly appearance. Finally, all that top growth needs frequent mowing!

A. Apply AGGRAND 4-3-3 every two weeks in summer and every four weeks in winter (For cacti, apply a very weak solution several times a year).
B. Apply AGGRAND 0-12-0 several times at monthly intervals in spring and fall.
C. Some plants will flower at certain times of year or even continuously when AGGRAND 0-12-0 is applied regularly (Every month in summer and every two months in winter).
D. Apply AGGRAND 0-0-8 sparingly along with the 4-3-3 every month in summer and every two months in winter.
E. Apply AGGRAND Liquid Lime every month in summer and every two months in winter.
F. There is no need to apply Liquid Lime when you are using AGGRAND 0-12-0 in spring and fall or during periods of flowering (Natural Liquid Bonemeal 0-12-0 also supplies calcium).
G. In spring and fall place potted plants in sink and leach with plenty of fresh water (At least one gallon of water for each gallon of soil).
H. Topdress the pots with compost or earthworm castings once in spring and once in fall after leaching (Use one cup for each gallon of soil).
I. When potting or repotting your plants, blend in one cup of compost or earthworm castings per gallon of soil; wet soil while in mixing tub with a solution of AGGRAND Liquid Lime and AGGRAND 0-12-0 until soil is well wetted; after you've potted your plant water it in with a weak solution of AGGRAND 4-3-3.
